About Paganhill Community

Paganhill Community Group(PCG) Started early in 2017 when a few residents got together and decided to have a Summer event.

We had about 200 people turn up that day, it was very hot and the Gazebos and marquee we had put up, as we didn’t trust the UK weather, became sun shades as the temperature climbed. We had some unexpected, unplanned surprises.

Moochi the clown came out to join us and the children were entertained by his party tricks and fun. He was a great success.

The fire engine turned up and supported our event and at the last minute, we asked an Ice cream sales person to come along. He was popular too. The Door Project came along and offered games and entertainment for the children and were also a great hit on the day.

One resident worked hard to offer live music by local musicians and many people worked behind the scenes organizing, fundraising and hoping it would be a success.

We had so many people turn up to help put up marquees and organize the BBQ and the food, a face painter offered us her expertise, games were organised for the children. Local supermarkets gave us food. Greggs gave us donuts and many local shops gave us raffle prizes.  Barnwood Trust awarded us a small sparks grant for advertising cost, face painting material, and insurance. We offered all food and entertainment on a donation basis and took £270.

Our New Cafe

Friday’s Community Cafe

A committee was formed after this event as we did not want to stop at the summer party but went on to organise a local cafe/drop-in at the Maypole hall on a Friday afternoon between 12-5pm. It started in October of 2017 and has proved to be a good meeting place ever since.

With a grant from the Rotary Club, we now offer arts and crafts. Local people coming forward to offer their skill and expertise and give their time to our community venture. (See Art and crafts page.)
