Art class at our Community Cafe

Drop In Art and Craft Sessions are offered every Friday at the Community Café.

The Art and Craft group began in November 2017 and was awarded a grant by The Rotary Club in their Community Awards in January 2018.

Shannon and Mel are on hand with a wide range of craft activities for visitors of all ages to try out from 1 until 5 pm. Both are self-confessed ‘craftaholics’ and are experienced in a huge range of techniques. Activities change each week and have previously included card making, screen printing, card sculptures, beading and jewelry making.

Activities often have a seasonal theme and are very popular with children.

Art sessions are run by Zoe and Cath who are available from 4 until 5pm each Friday. Both are experienced art teachers and are on hand to give advice and guidance.

Sessions are unstructured and will cater for what visitors on a particular week want.

Zoe has a large library of art and photography books and is very happy to bring in requested books for visitors to read whilst enjoying a cup of tea! There is a good range of art materials available to use and sessions are relaxed and friendly.

Zoe also creates opportunities for visitors to be part of community art projects, most recently the community bunting featured at the Summer Fayre. Upcoming projects include a collaboration with the community garden group.
There is no age restriction to art and craft sessions. We welcome people of any age who would like to create something whilst visiting the Café. All art and craft sessions are FREE to visitors, donations towards materials are gratefully received

We would love to hear from anyone who would like to be involved in running the art and craft sessions, if you have previous experience in any creative activity and would like to volunteer some of your time please get in touch via the website or pop in on a Friday for a cuppa!
